Hardware Overview
The reference design kit includes a PoE-VOICE-EB reference design board which contains an IEEE 802.3af compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) circuit, 8 kHz voice/speech sampling system and an IEEE 802.3 embedded Ethernet connection. The reference design board provides a hardware platform for evaluating and developing software for embedded systems that use the C8051F340 as the main controller, the CP2201 as the Ethernet controller and the Si3400 as the PoE controller.
Firmware Overview
The reference design software uses the TCP/IP Configuration Wizard, which generates starter firmware based on the industry standard CMX-MicroNet Stack. The software provides an example of the following:
- Interrupt-based ADC sampling engine
- Automatic gain control
- G.711 sound compression
- Sound transmission over Ethernet
- Web server interface for viewing sensor data
- Storing in and serving web pages from CP220x Flash
- Implementing a TFTP bootloader
The PoE-VOICE-RD kit contains the following items:
- PoE voice transmission reference design board
- CAT5e Ethernet cable
- CAT5e crossover Ethernet cable
- Universal (100–240 V, 50–60 Hz) ac to dc power adapter
- Silicon Laboratories reference design kit IDE and Product Information CD-ROM, which includes the following:
- Silicon Laboratories Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
- TCP/IP Configuration Wizard
- Source code examples and register definition files
- Documentation
