Raven High speed parallel port interface for JTAG or BDM debugging
Faster than a Wiggler, also on the parallel port. The Raven is a parallel port interface for either JTAG or BDM debugging. Faster than a Wiggler, it is a stable, easy to use device and is fully compatible with all of our software. The Raven is a mid-cost interface used in the design, debug, and programming of microprocessor and micro-controller based embedded systems. One side of the Raven interfaces to the parallel port of a host IBM compatible PC and the other side connects to an OCD (On-Chip Debug) port of the target system. This port may be JTAG, E-JTAG, OnCE, COP, BDM, or any of several other types of connections. Theory of Operation The Raven operates as a parallel to serial and serial to parallel converter for OCD signals. The host PC talks to the Raven via EPP mode of the parallel port. Power Power is supplied by an external five volt power supply. The buffers that interface to the OCD header are powered by the target itself. Physical The Raven is in a black plastic housing, approximately 4 x 2.5 x 0.75 inches. One side has a standard, male, DB-25. The other side has a 5.5 inch ribbon cable ending in the appropriate header for the OCD target. It weighs approximately 8 ounces. The power supply as attached to the Raven via a three foot wire and the supply ends in an IEC connector.
