Ordering Information
The High-performance Embedded Workshop is shipped with the C/C++ compiler toolchains for H8, M16C, M32C & SH family devices. It is also supplied without compiler toolchains with In-circuit Emulators and On-Chip Debuggers, and with evaluation compiler toolchains (which provide full functionality for 60 days from installation and 64K (256K for SH) code size limitation thereafter) inStarter Kits and Evaluation and Development Kits.
The C/C++ compiler toolchains are a licensed product and are available in two versions; node locked and network licensed.
Node locked license
These versions may only be installed on a single PC. The product will provide full functionality for 60 days frominstallation but requires registration with our customer support group to obtain an unlock key to enable full use thereafter. If you register online this is typically sent to you within 24 hours.
Network license
This package contains 2 CDs:
- Server Install. Contains the network license server, plus online registration.
- Client Install. Contains the HEW and toolchain.
The network license allows a number of users (in lots of 1 or 5 seats) to run the Renesas toolchain from any workstation on the network. The network requires Windows based TCP/IP and is not compatible with Novell Netware servers. The advantage of a single seat network license over a single standard license is that more than one engineer may use the license from their own workstation. Depending on workload, 5 network licenses could support 10 engineers. Note however that once an engineer uses a license, it is reserved for their exclusive use for 30 minutes. Another advantage is that if you use machines that may be re-formatted or used in rotation. Whereas a fixed license would be needed for each machine, by using a network license, the toolchain will be immediately available wherever needed. Furthermore, if your PCs are upgraded, instead of needing to contact customer support for a new key, the toolchains will continue to operate.
For license quantities other than 1 or 5, multiple single and 5 user licenses may be installed to enable the total number of licenses you require (e.g. 12 concurrent users = 5+5+1+1).
To test that the network and client machines are compatible with the Network License there is an updated test utiltity available for Network License users. A network license client/server installation must be present to use this utility.
