NXP and Mouser Electronics Launch Dual PCB Configurable Logic Design Contest

Design Contest is the centerpiece of the 2015 Big I.D.E.A. (International Design Engineering Award)

Discovery Bay, California,  January 12, 2015  – Convergence Promotions LLC has announced the Dual PCB Configurable Logic Contest will be this year’s entry in the 2015 Big I.D.E.A. (International Design Engineering Award) sponsored by NXP and Mouser Electronics. In addition to the Dual PCB Configurable Logic products, the contest will also feature other NXP products including Load Switches, Protection and Filtering, Small Signal MOSFETs, and Small Signal Diodes.

Glenn ImObersteg, President of Convergence, says “This is the first time a contest of this scope has been attempted in the embedded industry. By bringing so many of the business units and products at NXP together for this one effort, we can really demonstrate the broad spectrum of products that NXP offers the design community. Working with a distribution partner like Mouser is an added benefit because entrants can readily purchase the parts they need to execute their designs.”

Clifford Lloyd, Business Development Director for NXP’s Logic Business Line, adds “Dual Configurable Logic is an ideal candidate for the design contest because there has been a large increase in the number of combination logic devices released in the market, and engineers are looking for more design flexibility. These devices combine two or more different functions in a single package, giving the designer the opportunity to configure them separately, so as a result, engineers will always have glue logic readily available to create design solutions efficiently and economically.”

Developed by Convergence Promotions, The Big I.D.E.A. launched worldwide January 1, 2015 with merchandise awards totalling more than $12,000. The Grand Prize, First, Second, Third, and Honourable Mention will be awarded for the most creative designs using all the NXP products together in one application solution. Contestants will navigate from the sign-up process, through an on-line schematic tool, to working with a demo board in the final submission. Prizes are awarded at the conclusion of every stage of the contest to ensure more engineers can earn awards at every stage; regardless of how far they advance in the contest.
